The George, Norton St Philip

Last weekend we decided that I needed some space away to do some serious fiction writing. So oft we travelled on the Sunday to The George - The Pepys Room sounded appropriate and so we esconced ourselves.
Superb meal, quiet time in the garden, musing over cricket matches and life changing circumstances.
A bottle of Champagne with our beef wellington, with the hosts and company relaxing.
That was, until I retired to bed. I was awoken at about 1.30 am with the hairs standing on the back of my head and totally convinced we had been broken into. I got up checked around, not a sausage in sight, so back to bed I went, and was relieved to hear people in the corridor, so obviously a case of over active imagination.
At about 3.30 am exactly the same thing happened again, but this time I was convinced I was being watched from a window to the left of me. I got up and checked, and there was no window there, just a wall hanging, off to the loo and back to bed. I really had decided at this point to give up alchohol, and vowed never to eat cheesecake again (no matter how lush it looked !!).
I just started dozing off, when my Partner snorted - I did a levitation worthy of any hysterical person, alive or dead !! Enough now... I decided to read until I dozed off again.
6.30 ish I was awoken yet again - exactly the same feeling of someone staring at me, really peeved and put out by my being there.
I gave up then with any pretence of sleep and decided it was something to do with the wind, life, planet, whatever.
We told the lady the next morning who was in charge of breakfast, and apparently there have been a number of "incidents" in the room - none like mine, but a picture developed by another client showed a mist (which when I took a similar picture I could see might have been a flash back from the glass of the picture frame).
A cleaner had seen a baby (this was no baby) and the room had been part of the private dwellings before the refurb.
So no doubt a solvable mystery, but not one with the clues that I currently have. If anybody knows anything - please share, I am sure there is an earthly reason !!
